An American at Crufts
Sorceress Awarded Stud Book Number

BISS GCH CH MAGIC BERNERS SORCERESS
Owned & Bred by Magic Berners
Birmingham, United Kingdom

March 11, 2010, Birmingham, United Kingdom: Crufts History is made when Sorceress became the first American bred and American owned Bernese Mountain Dog to qualify for entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book. In the United Kingdom under The Kennel Club Rules there is no ‘Champion Class’. All UK champions and invited non-champions compete in the Open Dog Class or the Open Bitch Class. Then all undefeated dogs compete for the male Championship Certificate [C.C.]; and undefeated bitches compete for the female CC. This is similar to the AKC Winners Classes. Finally, the Best of Breed is awarded either to the dog CC or the bitch CC. In addition, The Kennel Club Rules permit a ‘Stud Book Number’ to be awarded to qualified extraordinary individuals who score excellent in all categories, and place first or second in Open Class.

CH Magic Berners Sorcerers has these qualifications. The Open Bitch class this year at Crufts consisted of 22 Champions invited from 12 countries. Sorceress placed second. Now the holder of Stud Book number 0291CV, Sorceress has become the first Bernese Mountain Dog, bred in America and owned by Americans to receive this award. – CONGRATULATIONS SORCERESS.

Magic Berners is very grateful to The Kennel Club for their recognition. We wish to thank the many Kennel Club Members and Bernese breeders who received our little American entourage with open arms and made us feel at home. Also, Mrs. Anna Morgan for her expert presentation of Sorceress. And of course, a special thank you to the breed Judge, Mrs. Linda Stephenson, for recognizing the qualities in Sorceress.

Thank you one and all for our wonderful visit and for making a dream come true…. . Diane, Bruce and Sorceress
